The Crete Police Department and Emergency Services and Disaster Agency are located just south of the Village Hall on Benton Street.
Emergency Services And Disaster Agency (ESDA)
The Emergency Services and Disaster Agency was established within the Village of Crete, and is responsible for coordinating the emergency and disaster mitigation, as well as preparedness, planning, response and recovery efforts to the benefit of our residents in conjunction with Will County Emergency Management Association, the State of Illinois, private organizations, businesses, and the public.
Crete E.S.D.A. accomplishes its mission through a wide array of programmatic efforts, including development of emergency plans; conduct of disaster exercises; development of emergency communications and warning systems; operations of specialized emergency response units; public awareness and education; and, guidance to local units of government.
The Emergency Services and Disaster Agency for the Village of Crete is a fully volunteer organization that provides assistance to Crete residents and neighboring communities during emergencies and times of disasters. We maintain a membership team of 10 to 20 men and women who leave their homes, families, and jobs at a moments notice to provide assistance when called upon. We meet every Tuesday night at 7:00 PM for training and planning. If you would like to volunteer your time to our team, you may stop in at the Village Hall and complete an application that will be turned over to our membership committee for review. You must be 18 years of age, pass a physical examination, and undergo a background check. Any questions can be answered by contacting our office at 708-672-2737 and leaving a message on our voice mail, we will be happy to get back to you with a response.
Emergency Warning Sirens
The Village of Crete conducts monthly tests of their emergency warning sirens on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 10:00 AM. Emergency sirens are located throughout the village and are used to warn residents of impending severe weather. If the sirens sound at another time of the day it is recommended that you take shelter and tune in to local radio or TV broadcasts for additional information. Please do not call the village police, fire, or E.S.D.A. for information or questions, as we will be busy and unable to provide information. Any emergencies should be reported by calling 911.
